Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a procedure that can be done to cosmetically improve the appearance of teeth by changing its color. Tooth discoloration can be caused by smoking cigarettes, age, medication like tetracycline, tooth trauma, and eating or drinking dark foods and liquids. There are different kinds of whitening techniques depending on the patient’s preference. The first one is a chairside treatment that can take about an hour and a half and done by the dentist or the trained dental staff. The second one is by having a bleaching tray made so whitening syringes can be used to whiten teeth at home over a number of days depending on the patient’s sensitivity level and the teeth color satisfaction. Whitening syringes can contain a variety of whitening solution that can allow for the bleaching tray to stay in place in the mouth for an hour to 8 hours. It is highly recommended to follow the dentist's instructions.
